Hi everyone it’s Nicola here and I want to welcome you to the VZine. And this week we’ve got some great results to report. The people who’ve been going through my “Be Everywhere Online” 30 Day Challenge are starting to get some great results.
Yeah so they’re on to videos two or three and one of the participants, Veronica, has, I think she’s only done two videos and released them and leveraged them across everywhere that she wants to. But she has attracted a new client. A new £99 a month client. So that’s pretty good. On an advertising spend of 11 pounds. So she used her money to boost her video content in the way that I’ve taught everyone, and attracted new clients so that’s pretty cool.
Another one, Bev Mead, who is talking to ladies of a certain age about how to be more impactful in their work relationships, and she has had her podcast picked up and featured by Radio Public as an “Indie Podcast to Watch”. She really only has got just three episodes on that podcast so far, and it’s just part of the process I teach people on how to take their content and get it everywhere. So, she’s really thrilled about that, and it’s really funny to see her reaction, because she didn’t even know that had happened. So, I spotted it and took a screen grab for her.
Loads of other people are attracting new leads, loads of other people are attracting new followers on their various platforms. So everybody that has actually taken action is getting great results. And that makes me really happy.
The next 30 Day Challenge will be in a couple of weeks time, so if you want to make sure you don’t miss that then come along to NicolaCairncross.com and opt in for one of our free gifts, or the “Be Everywhere Online” Presentation. And you’ll get on to the mailing list, and you’ll see the announcement when it goes out. I’m really looking forward to working with you.
Let’s get on with the show, shall we?
Okay so in this little section I want to talk to you briefly about how to overcome adversities and how to keep focused and not get too confused about what you should be doing.
It’s been a real up and down week for me this week, last week Facebook ads decided to close my account because they suddenly decided I was promoting work at home opportunities like an MLM or a Get Rich Quick scheme. They didn’t actually tell me that, and it took me a lot of e-mails and live chat conversations to find out exactly what it was that was the problem.
I thought at first it was several things I was doing: my website, so for example saying “Be Everywhere Online in under 20 Minutes a Week”, they don’t like time bound claims apparently. There was lots of other things, I was giving away free e-books – apparently don’t like free anymore they prefer you to sell a book, even if you’re only just getting people to pay postage and packing, they like everything to be totally transparent. Well I’m totally transparently giving away free e-books, so I don’t understand what the problem is.
But anyway, I went through a whole long list of things and I finally turned to one of my paid communities and asked the advice of someone who is a mentor to me in these things and he was able to tell me that it was not just me, it was a whole raft of businesses.
Essentially they are trying to make room for more higher paid advertising, and they want to clean out all the little minnows. So what they’ve done is just a sweeping blanket changes, all automated, and it’s not one person looking at my website, not liking it and deciding that they didn’t want me as an advertiser anymore.
So that threw me into complete disarray and it took up a lot of time because I was trying to appeal the decision, because I’d heard that you can and in fact I have successfully managed to do that in the past for clients and for me. But no there was no giving on this one, so it took up a lot of time for nothing.
The other body blow this week, I woke up on Saturday morning after quite a late night on Friday night let me tell you, because it was Dave’s Dining Club, to find that one of my client’s websites was pointing at a porn site. Not the desktop version, just the mobile version. Which of course is not what I look at it on.
So hopefully it only happened within that sort of last 24 hour period, and the reason we realized was because the Facebook ads were turned off. So I had to go and try and rescue that, and all day Saturday was taken up by that, and GoDaddy wanted to charge an exorbitant sum to clean it up.
So in the end we just moved hosting to Siteground. So GoDaddy not only didn’t get to charge us the exorbitant sum, they lost a hosting customer. Because just by recreating the site on a new bit of hosting, we were able to change the site over, point the domain name to the new hosting and add some more security and privacy measures to make sure he doesn’t get hacked again.
What else happened? It’s been a confusing bitty week, you know one of those weeks where you can’t get much done because everything you try and do you’re frustrated at every turn? And that can cause a lot of confusion in your head if you don’t know what you’re supposed to do. I have got a Moleskine notebook that I carry with me, it’s got an elastic band on it so it snaps shut. And I just write everything down in there, so every single day I’ll write a new to do list.
I also do meditation, which I’m finding helpful, very helpful. I do 15 minutes nearly every day now and that helps me where I’m feeling- you know that feeling when you’re frustrated and you’re staring at the computer screen too long and you start to get a bit of a funny feeling in your forehead? Well I find meditation helps a lot with that.
So yeah keep to do list, keep focused on a few key things you want to achieve this week.
My big goal for my own business is to get a new sales page up for Clicks And Leads Academy, and I’ve been focusing on that in between all the other bits that I’ve had to do this week. The biggest problem is the sun is shining in Stoupa, it’s really beach weather again now. And I’m desperate to get down to that beach and swim, although the water is still a bit parky apparently.
So yeah, I’m trying to get my work done by 2 o’ clock every day so that I can go out in the sunshine. Today I’ve got to take my rubbish down because there’s no bin man in Stoupa. And I’m going to drop my rubbish off and I’m going to go for a little walk on the sea front, and I might even go for a paddle.
And that’s the point of this. The point is not to work all day every day, but to get your work done in a shorter possible time for each day, and know that you’re achieving two or three key things each week. And keep track of it all in your notebook that you carry around.
Okay, hope that helps you to know that even people who are bit further down the road than you have frustrating weeks and unsuccessful weeks and weeks where things go wrong, and we’ve just got to find coping mechanisms so that we don’t get knocked off course.
Hope that helps, and as always, love to hear your comments. In Facebook, Youtube or on the blog. Let me know how you feel, how you cope with adversity, how you keep organized and on track, and if you need any help just shout for help and I can make some suggestions in the comments.
Okay, so what’s on the blog and the podcast. On the “Own It” podcast last week we were talking about “What Price Education?” That’s episode 176. And we’re talking about, the whole thing about people investing in a huge, hugely overpriced college degree in America and then having to pay it off the rest of their lives. And to some degree, that’s sort of starting to happen here now. Because free tuition is going out the window shortly if it’s not already gone.
So you know, how do you know when you need to invest in tuition? I’m a great believer in “just in time” learning, rather than “just in case” learning. So I think you should invest in knowledge and education as you actually need it. And as soon as you put it into action.
We also talked about how we’ve invested in ourselves over the years, you know how we’ve gone off and spent money on mentors and training courses and training courses with mentors, and how much of a difference that makes.
You can learn lots of things for free on Youtube and Udemy so you should always go and check there first and do a little search on there. The same way I used to go to the library if I wanted to learn something. You can go to Youtube and Udemy.
Okay, what else is on. On episode 64 of the VZine last week I was talking about inspiring Facebook Live videos I’ve seen and I’d highlighted two particular examples and I went through and I analyzed why they were so good. So if you’ve been thinking of doing Facebook live for your business and you’re a little bit daunted by it all.
You need to really get your head around it and start if you can, because they’ve made it a lot easier to do from your desktop. So you don’t actually need to just go live on your page on a mobile phone, and that’s a very good tip there by the way, go live from your page not live from your personal profile. Because if you go live from your page, all of your page people who’ve liked your page will get notified. And that’s really cool to build up a bit of an audience.
So I give a lot more tips in my own Facebook live about Facebook lives, and you can find out more about that in VZine number 64.
Okay that’s it for this week thank you very much for watching and I’ll see you again next week. As always, do feel free to leave your comments below on Youtube, on Facebook, on the blog- I love to hear from you I love to hear if anything I’ve said this week has touched you or made you think so let me know and I’ll see you next week. Bye!
