Veronica describes her Asperger’s (and anywhere on the autistic spectrum) as a gift. Her other challenges of RA (rheumatoid arthritis), partial hearing loss, night blindness, not being able to drive and bankruptcy all prompted her to design her ideal business based around her love of being social online.
Having eventually given up all attempts at a day job, she negotiated with Bill, her husband who now works with her in the business, to have six months in which to replace the income she earned as a part-time book-keeper. It turns out it was much faster than that, creating work as a copywriter via Elance. Veronica’s a fast mover!
Next she persuaded Bill to lend her £750 so she could study how to become a social media manager and, in so doing, she discovered how much she already knew. Later, Bill came home from work disillusioned and exhausted for a four-hour daily commute, and Veronica had built an income by that time so that he too could leave his day job as life came full circle.
Then they realised they had no need to stay living in Surrey but could move to Veronica’s favourite ….
