So once you’ve set up your free Google Optimizer account, you need to go and set up some Goals in your Google Analytics account.
Now that is quite easy. You go down to the bottom left-hand corner in your account and you click the cog wheel thing and you go over to the right-hand side and look for the link that says Goals.
Now most Goals are going to be destination-based so if you just choose the Custom option and then it’ll take you through to where you can put the URL of the destination that someone ends up on after they’ve taken the action on your page.
So, for example, if it was to opt-in for something or to buy something, you need the thank you page URL and then you would put that in as a Goal on your website in Analytics.
Then you hook up your Analytics account to your Optimizer account and your Optimise experiments will know what you’re optimising for.
