I’ve just been to a local networking event run by Worthing & Adur Chamber of Commerce. Now I used to be involved in Worthing Chamber about 6 or so years ago, and quite frankly, it was tragic. I tried to pursuade them to take membership payments online, to have a blog on their site, and all that good stuff. But there were a few dinosaurs on the committee who blocked any progress and I gave up in the end.
It’s a different story now! Over 100 members, a fully fledged blog and Twitter account @WorthingAndAdur and it’s all rock ‘n’ roll.
The event was well attended and I met some very interesting people – just right for my new local business marketing venture The Business Success Factory. And they do evenings, lunchtimes and breakfast do’s, so I might rethink my plans of attending all the local BNI meetings – getting up at 5.30am is just brutal!
Why not check out your local Chamber of Commerce? It’s only £70 a year or so to become a member, I think you get a link from their website to yours (helps with SEO) and you never know, if Worthing can come into the 21st Century, then your local Chamber may have done so too!
Also, did you know….if you have recently been made redundant, you can go and sign on as unemployed, and get a discretionary grant to help you get training to start a business? Enquire at your local Job center or – if they say they know nothing about it – email me so I can put you in touch with someone who does know all about it..
