Today I want to talk to you about limiting beliefs. And these are one of the first things that you tackle when you start to train to become a coach. Because they are everywhere, everywhere. And I have to guard against them every single day.
So, limiting beliefs are where you think things like, oh, well that’s all very well for them, but I couldn’t do that. That’s limiting around your own self, your personality, your capabilities. Or when you have a black and white thinking kind of mindset. And you think, well there’s no point in doing that because it’ll probably not work very well.
And, if you catch yourself in those kind of limiting beliefs where you might get some kind of outcome, but the outcome you get, you anticipate, won’t be worth the effort, or the trouble, or whatever, then that’s a limiting belief.
The other kind of limiting belief is, oh, well that wouldn’t, that might work for them, but it wouldn’t work for me. Or it might work in that situation, but probably not in this situation. So, you’re sort of acknowledging that a successful outcome is possible.
But, it’s only possible for some people, or in some circumstances, or in some situations, or with some kind of products or services, but not yours. So, do watch out and see if you can catch yourself in any limiting beliefs this week.
That’s where what you might think something’s going to be successful, but not for you.
