One of the less helpful things that people find themselves doing when they get online, is comparisonitis.
I mean, I could compare myself to any number of my peers and I would probably find myself lacking… I’m not attractive enough, I’m not made up enough, my background’s not glamorous enough.
There are a whole host of reasons you could tell yourself why you shouldn’t get online. And especially why you shouldn’t get online with video. But you’ve got to get yourself over that because those people are not going to pay the bills for you.
The people in your peer group who might snigger behind their hands and take the mickey out of you – the creative industries are particularly bad for this – or the ones that aren’t doing that but you think they are, they’re not going to pay your bills for you.
So what you’ve got to do is get over this comparisonitis and you’ve got to say…
I’ve got something equally as good and unique to bring to the table. I’ve got something really good that people need to know about.
And try and get over your comparisonitis.
