It’s been a very hectic week and while I’m locked in the house for 6 hours while the paint dries on the windowsills – even the ground floor ones – I’m trying to keep busy while that happens!
I tell you, you couldn’t make this stuff up! The builders and the landlady (my singing sister) arrived, they did a few jobs, they opened the windows and started painting, everyone left and then I realised I couldn’t leave the house!
On Not Being In Vegas
I’m also trying not to think about the fact I should be in Las Vegas, right now, at the Bug Free Mind Mastermind!
I went the last couple of years and it’s a great event, hanging out with 80 odd top affiliates and online business people from around the world having fun while learning loads at the same time. Not to mention the cool surprise guest speakers like Les Brown last year – he was brilliant, catch him on YouTube here.
Every outing, every dinner and evening out is sponsored, by one or other of the companies there, all to woo potential joint venture partners to support upcoming launches, it’s such great fun.
However, I decided not to go this year, for several reasons, the main one being that I’m still getting over Steve’s sudden death and while my day to day mood is lightening a bit, socialising for any length of time is a bit tough. One wrong song in the background and it’s “game over” on the blubbing front, if you know what I mean!
Everyone says “look after yourself” after something like this happens and that’s just what I’m doing, taking things at what feels like the right pace.
I had an interesting discussion on Facebook with a very dear friend who sent me a “grief hypnotherapy” MP3 and then wanted to know why I hadn’t listened to it yet. I said it felt too soon and he came back with a very pithy reply which went along the lines of “O yes, I’m sure Steve would really want you to be unhappy for just a bit longer” which really made me laugh!
Getting Out & About
I did venture out to go and speak at Digital Kent just recently and that was great – I highly recommend it as an event if you live nearby. Katie Rose (the organiser) from BestBusinessEvents.co.uk is hoping to expand it across the South East so do get in touch with her if you would like her to bring it to your area.
Funnel Building For A 10 Year Old
A 10 year old subscriber that is! A new client came on board this week for an entire marketing & sales funnel build out – she’s been on my mailing list for nearly 10 years and has been trying to put it all together on her own and finally decided to invest in someone to do it for her. I was the only person in the running, due to her having followed my progress on social media and in this newsletter. Quite a substantial project and it show it all “only just works”!
Custom GeoFilters For Snapchat
I’ve also been learning how to make Custom Geo-Filters for Snapchat which is great if you are a business as they’ve opened it up now so it’s not just communities who can make geo-filters.
Don’t know what a geo-filter is? This is what one looks like…I love the Hustle Mode On pic at the bottom. Click the pic above to find out more
We made one for Shoreham today which features the pirate from the pub my daughter Phoebe works at (and looks after the social media for). I’ll get it approved then we can use it for Bank Holiday weekend. Ooooh, we could make a custom one for the Crown for the Wildlife Festival…. the possibilities are endless.
Own It! The Summit Update
Another reason not to go to Vegas is that we have got the “Own It! Beyond The Laptop Lifestyle” Summit to organise, interview for and promote, that’s growing into quite a big thing.
Have you registered free yet? We now have Yaro Starak, Jo Barnes and John Richardson confirmed as well as all our other speakers. Judith has started blogging about the interviews we’ve done so far and you can check that outhere.
We only need 38 more people to support us on Thunderclap and we have reached our target of 100 and over 218,000 will see the launch “thunderclap” when it goes out.
If we don’t find 38 more people in the next 40 days, nothing will happen.
A deafening silence!
Can you help? It won’t take more than a minute or two and anyone with any kind of following on Twitter, Facebook or Tumblr can get involved and help us.
Just sign up to help Thunderclap us here
Then why not enter our Blog Competition to win a Platinum Summit Package worth $297?
Judith says “What’s your dream for living Beyond the Laptop Lifestyle?
You know what I call the cheesy internet dream…the one with the hunky guy with abs, or the bikini babe, each working at a laptop on the beach despite the full glare from the sun onto the computer screen, no desk, chair or WiFi, all of which would make it at best uncomfortable and at worst impossible.
Is it a dream? Will it always remain just that? Or do you have plans to make yours a reality? We’d love to hear….”

Meanwhile, over on the Podcast, we are talking about Business Partners being a mixed blessing.
We are in the Top 90 of “What’s Hot” on Management & Marketing this week and climbing slowly but steadily.
If you are a fan and can give us a review on iTunes, that’s what seems to make the difference and if you include your name and URL in the review, we can give you a “shout out” on the show which means you’ll be heard by over 500 businesses in that episode.
That’s pretty much it from me this week, so have a glorious weekend in the sun!
