My Business Diary | Shortcuts, Flakes & 3 Key Secrets Of Success
Well, I’m back and I have loads of business development activity (and even some “woo woo”) to report! I’ve had my head down the last couple of weeks making a series of 6 short videos for The Business Success Factory, on “The 3 Key Secrets Of Business Success” as I suddenly realised that it was going to take me AGES to go the usual route of
1. Writing a great report
2. Expanding on that report and turning it into an ebook
3. Turning that ebook into a real book
4. Recording the audio for that book
5. Creating the sales funnel for all of the above
And that I could shortcut by creating some videos using Powerpoint and audio! Then I could take the time to create all of the above at my leisure.
Especially as our transcriptionist has come to a dead halt due to what they call “poor sound quality on the recording”. I can hear it fine and if I were typing fast enough I’d be doing it right now! My wonderful VA Kelly is looking for another transcriptionist at the moment as they are really FLAKY!
It’s seem like every time you find a good one, they go all weird on you after a few jobs. Could it be that they quote too cheap to get the gigs but are not prepared to work on, at that rate? Surely they should just come back and say “sound quality is rubbish on that recording, so I need to charge more”?
Whereas I realised that I could create a series of videos containing GREAT free content, and get them online into a launch funnel within a week or so thanks to the magic of Powerpoint, Camtasia, Amazon S3 and the ever evolving OptimizePress (did I mention before that I actually love James Dyson?!!)
I’m pleased with the videos and the comments are very favourable although not as many questions as I thought I would see, and nobody asking for help on any of it with their businesses, which is a bit odd, but perhaps now my strategic partners are starting to mail for me, the questions will come.
Watch the videos and ask your questions here at http://bit.ly/tbsfnewvideos
One of my Mastermind team have suggested that I put on a free webinar, initially for those who have watched the videos, then I could possibly use that webinar as a automated recurring traffic driver for the videos and that’s not a bad idea actually. I’ve set it up for next Wednesday and as one of my blog readers, I’d like to invite you – you can register here https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/770311992
I’m also busy piling the content into the back end membership site at The Business Success Factory, both for the membership area for my Local Business Marketing students and also the main membership area which will cover “The 3 Key Secrets Of Business Success” students.
Talking of the Local Business Marketing mentoring students, one of them might have attracted his first client already and we are only into Month 3.
Bear in mind this student was working full time until recently! He went to visit a mate of his to talk over who he should be focusing on getting to know locally, who were the movers and shakers in the Sevenoaks business scene and in preparation for that, we got together some tips on how this guy could improve his website together with the kind of questions my student would be asking when he goes out networking.
It turns out that, after that conversation, his mate is now really interested in using his services. He’s been paying £8k a year on Adwords and can’t even tell if it’s converting to leads / customers for his business, bless him.
We worked on the proposal together today, I gave feedback and suggestions, and it’s going over to this chap today. Fingers crossed. I do like a nice quick return on investment for my mentoring students!
Monday I did something that I’ve been meaning to do for AGES which is to create a physical Dreamboard for my wall. I’ve had a virtual one on my desktop for ages but it was a bit messy looking and was stressing me out, I like a nice clean desktop with minimum icons nowadays, helps me focus.
So I went to Staples (love that shop!) and bought myself two corkboards (I have lots of dreams!) and fixed them to the wall and started to pin stuff up. Great fun but I need some Vogues and other suchlike fashion magazines to find pics of gorgeous clothes for when I’ve lost the weight I’ve gained again over the last couple of (stressful) years.
The best thing about making the Dreamboard in real life was that in order to print off some pictures I had to get quite specific. I originally wanted a dark blue Audi or a Saab with cream interiors but when I went to look for pics I couldn’t find a nice enough pic. So I had to go to the manufactures websites where I found a “Build Your Dream Saab” app, which offered me the chance of a beautiful “Glacier Silver” which was literally the amazing translucent greeny blue of a glacier. So much classier than navy and more exciting than plain old silver.
I’ve been journaling like a madwoman and I’m really enjoying it, so much so that I need a new Moleskine notebook so it’s off down the North Laines for me to that lovely stationery shop in Gardner Street.
And there I must leave you as it’s nearly next week!
