My Business Diary | Journaling & A New Coaching Programme
For some reason I’ve been resisting writing about my own business progress recently. I don’t know what it is, perhaps it’s because I’ve been crazy busy with my new podcast, creating my brand new coaching programme (see below), as well as working with my existing coaching clients, particularly the Local Business Marketing gang, and I’ve been writing a lot anyway, both my new book, several blog posts (meaty ones’ too) and also I’ve been journaling pretty much every day.
I started journaling in January, after being reminded again that Rich Schefren really recommends it, in fact he credits that habit as one of the key things that have made him successful – good enough for me – and I’m really enjoying it. Here it is with a couple of my more high-tech toys. It’s a Moleskine writers journal and I just love it.
I have a list of “prompt” questions at the front, should I lack enthusiasm for just writing about what’s happening in my work or life and I’m also experimenting with “sentence stems”.
Sentence stems are where you take a problem or challenge and express them as the first part of a simple sentence that pre-supposes you know what the solution is already.
For example, if you want to make more money you could say “I’d make more money if………….”. Or if you were on a diet you could say “I’d lose more weight if………….”
You quickly and spontaneously write down an answer a day, then collate the answers at the end of two weeks ideally. Look over all the answers and see if anything jumps out at you. It’s an idea stimulator, a truth revealer, it’s fun, why not try it? And let me know how you get on, or if you are having trouble changing your challenges into sentence stems.
The podcast is going well and I’m looking for new business owners to telephone interview, as I’m coming to the end of the archived interviews I had done already for my new book.
If you are a successful business owner, and you would like some exposure, just email me at nicola [at] nicolacairncross.com with “podcast interview” in the subject line and three days and times you can be free (daytimes ideally) and I’ll get back to you.
So…. My new coaching programme. It’s big, it’s very big. Perhaps the biggest thing I’ve launched since The Money Gym and I’m very excited about it.
As well as continuing to work with people who want to create Local Business Marketing companies (which I’m already doing) I’m going to be rolling EVERYTHING I know about business, time management, attitude, motivation, product creation, networking, marketing, internet marketing, attitudes to money, cashflow management and wealth creation, all into one Membership Website at The Business Success Factory.
You can choose to work on ONE of THREE core topics initially and the programmes start on a monthly rolling basis.
1. New Business & Digital Product Development (if you have a great idea already)
2. 21st Century Marketing For Existing Products / Services (if you have a product/service/business already)
3. Money, Cashflow & Wealth Creation For Business Owners
I’m thinking I’m going to be mainly working with established business owners whose lead product sale is worth more than £500 and whose one-year customer value is more than £12,000. And if you don’t know what a lead product is, or a one-year customer value, that’s cool, just use the comments box below to tell me a bit about your business and I’ll help you work it all out or figure out how you could get your business there.
The book is coming, the report is coming, the webinar is coming, the workshops are coming….I’m really excited about it.
Here’s the shape of it, architecture-wise.
MENTORING
3 x Intensive 12 week coaching programmes, each to include
1. 6 x private one-hour 1:2:1 strategy sessions, to be used when you like. Take more at the beginning or the end of your 12-week journey, use them how you want, you are in totally charge.
2. 1 x weekly recorded or live lesson, depending on which programme you subscribe to
3. 2 x weekly live Q&A sessions, which will be recorded and archived. You can choose to attend at 3pm Wednesdays to suit those business people who don’t want to cut into family time & 7pm Wednesdays for those with less flexibility in their business or who may still be in a job. I arrive at 3pm and 7pm and stay till all questions are answered or 2 hours is up, whichever is the sooner.
4. A private membership area with a resource library which I’m going to be adding to constantly, drawing together ALL the relevant audio, video, PDF and word documents, templates etc. that I’ve collected over the years. Here’s a sneak peek at the Local Business Marketing Membership area which I’ve got live already.
5. A private Facebook group where you can network with my other clients, arrange your own get-togethers, compare notes, swap contacts and resources. ** I would like to point out that I’m unique in this, no other teacher / mentor / coach allows their students to hang out together but I believe in total transparency and accountability ** Facebook is even better for this than Google groups as you can see the person’s face, their interests, really get to know your fellow students.
6. If your business / product is of interest to my subscribers, I will offer a mailout about your business at the end of the 12 weeks to my responsive list of business buyers, over 4000 of them and I’m now adding 5-20 per day new potential future customers.
7. Ongoing monthly membership of the private Facebook group & access to the Membership Area for as long as you are still working on your business. If you give up, I’ll be terminating your membership as I want to keep the environment positive and upbeat, so you can fail or change your mind and stay in, as long as you are still trying, you can stay in for as long as the Facebook Group & Membership area exist.
I’ll tell you a bit about how I’m starting to roll out the marketing next week.
Comments, thoughts, feedback, questions, all welcomed.
