Business Success | My Business Diary
After all my business internet marketing restructuring, blogging and recent naval gazing about how I should focus my business activities from now on, I thought I deserved a day out, so I took myself off to the Ibis Hotel, in London’s Earls Court, to Sohail Khan’s Joint Venture Club day.
This launch day was part of the bigger TIME event, which starts today (Friday) with Larry Loik and many other speakers including one of my personal author-heroes, Robert G Allen, I was surprised to see just half a room full of people perhaps – as I’m very excited about learning how to joint venture properly and the potential for business growth – but they were quality people for sure.
Janine Newbury, a previous Money Gym client, successful model and clever property investor said hello first and we continued to hang out for the rest of the day, along with Ryan Pinnick who taught me how to login to FourSquare successfully for the first time, and “check in” to the lovely 222 Vegan & Veggie restaurant, where we went to lunch.
Janine has created a mailing list of over 3500 people interested in health and nutrition within the last 6 months just using Facebook alone and I want to interview her on how she did it – we would all like to know about that!
Helen Pengelly was also there. I now run into Helen regularly at Shoreham networking and Worthing & Adur Chamber events, and she’s now making great strides in restructuring her Gluten-Free business (like Helen’s page at http://www.facebook.com/glutenfreefoodies ) from selling physical products to setting up joint ventures with Gluten Free food providers, people with health related mailing lists and her own established mailing list, and also offering coaching to those just diagnosed with any illness where the treatment involves embarking on a Gluten Free diet.
I was delighted to say hello to Vanish Patel of Property Networking Club fame, who apparently mentored Sohail when he had his previous business, as Vanish very generously gave me a couple of hours of his time back in 2006, about how to effectively turn 80-90% of any speaking gig audience into mailing list subscribers.
He complemented me on the more authentic turn my writing has been taking recently and I was very taken aback to hear that someone like Vanish reads my blog/ezine. Somehow, you always forget that anyone is reading it, much less people you know (bit scary!)
David Cavanagh gave me a big hug – we go back to the first World Internet Summit I spoke at – and introduced me to some nice people. I met some nice new folks too, including one of the speakers Christopher Adams who ended up by leading a fantastic guided meditation (hypnosis session?) geared towards helping us be braver at networking and looking for Joint Ventures, which I found incredibly relaxing and enjoyable.
Sohail also did a Joint Venture exercise live on stage and one of his previous work collegues – now a Joint Venture Broker herself – Chantalle Golding on stage to help him. He set up list owner Janine Newbury with 4-5 people who had products that would be suitable for a health orientated list.
That’s one of the things I really like about Sohail. I’ve been to two of his events now and both have had little surprises scheduled, which really made the days more enjoyable for me and I’m sure, the other delegates.
The rest of the weekend looks set to be a humdinger too – check out Capt’n Lou’s talk, he’s a lovely man and organises fantastic cruises including the very nearly sold out Internet Marketers Cruise to Mexico in January http://themoneygym.com/holidays )
All of this made me more determined than ever to find JV partners for my enterprises. But that’s a seperate blog post!
And finally, I was thrilled to see Mopney Gym client and ace bellydancing Yvette Cowles in the ever fabulous Gok Wan’s “How To Look Good Naked” – don’t think you can hide under that pink sweatshirt Yvette – I saw you through my tears (HTLGN makes me cry every time!)
